This is a fantastic book for oil painting beginners and includes some tips for intermediates too. It has sections on different techniques, how to assemble canvases at home (laborious but cheaper), mixing foundations and information and tips on different oil painting formats such as portraiture and landscapes showing examples and explaining how the effects were achieved.
