A sturdy replacement for an old garage door lock
The old lock was so worn that it was possible to unlatch the door without using a key. This replacement was very easy to fit and it really does make the door secure. The only problem that I had was that the handle had to be used in a vertical orientation rather than horizontal due to the arrangement of the linkages on the back of the door, but this is a minor point and does not affect the operation of the lock. It was supplied with 2 keys and I was able to get extra keys cut locally. If you have the determination it will fit.
Unfortunately my existing broken garage door lock had an integrated lower plate and different screw hole pitches so had to drill out the holes on the garage door, cut down the length of the securing screws which then allowed fitment. As the existing lock had a lower blanking plate construction I then had to angle grind the old lock mount, held on by four screws, to create a lower blanking plate and screw it with the lower located screws, existing, onto the garage door to bland off the large hole in the garage door. It's a garage door handle. It is what it is. Bolts could be longer, had to counterbire them to fit. Seems. Solid enough though.
