The largest Game Boy cartridge at the time of its release, Super Mario Land 2 nearly doubles the number of levels found in its side-scrolling predecessor and features a revamped visual style influenced by 1991's Super Mario World. Mario will travel on land, under water, and in outer space to find the six golden coins needed to save the land from his diabolical doppelganger, Wario. The action takes place across six themed zones, each spanning multiple stages: Tree Zone, Space Zone, Macro Zone, Pumpkin Zone, Mario Zone, and Turtle Zone. <br><br>Confront a mixture of familiar faces and new adversaries while acquiring various power-ups to assist Mario. Grow larger, shoot fireballs, and even fly across levels to safely make it through each stage. Mario's flying ability is triggered by a carrot, which causes the portly plumber's hat to sprout powerful bunny ears that can be used like wings. Once all six coins have been collected (by defeating each zone's boss character), the hero must confront his arch-nemesis lurking deep within Mario Land's castle. Automatically save progress throughout your travels via battery backup.

    Though a fairly short game, being able to finish within a few hours, its most certainly memorable. It has a very old-school feel that you simply need to experience for yourself to understand. Played this on my Super Gameboy with no technical issues, but know now that getting a game over results in requiring you to recollect the coins, so be sure to play well.

    Excellent Rom Hack

    Super Mario Land 2 DX is a Rom hack of Super Mario Land 2 except now in full color and Luigi is now a playable character. The added color is really well done and welcome. With the added color, it almost looks like a 16-bit game. This speaks not only well of the author of the Rom hack but also of the original development team. Luigi is a nice added bonus; although, it's more cosmetic as Luigi doesn't seem, to at least me, to have his normal platforming physics and seems to have Mario's instead. A good buy if you're at least curious.

    Blast from the past - amazing childhood memories

    This game is so fun! If playing on a game boy color or newer - you can see the beautiful color!! Had this game as a child but lost it and buying this again was great. Pick it up it's not your average Mario game where you save the princess - this time Mario has to reclaim his castle from the evil invader Wario! Overall very fun, nice graphics, unique enemies, and cool music!

    One of the Best Game Boy Games + Another Mario Classic!

    Easily one of the best games released for the original Game Boy and one of the rare sequels that surpasses it's predecessor. 6 Golden Coins is a another platforming gem in a long line of excellent Mario games. This particular one has Mario running and jumping as usual with new enemies and power-ups. In a rather drastic change from the first Super Mario Land which plays functions similarly to Super Mario Bros., Mario Land 2 has a world map that branches to six different "Zones" plus various other levels, allowing the player to choose their own path (to a degree) and save after any given level. Graphics were great for its time. The replay value is high - you can play levels over and over and still have fun. Excellent game for all ages.

    Hidden Gem

    This is a game that isn't very well known. It's still chocked full of new features found nowhere else and has a few design and story choices that are outside the norm of other mario titles. My only complaints are 1 it's a little on the easy side and 2 it's waaaant too short.
