    Aquila Reds ideal for a Concert Banjolele .. Ukulele Banjo .. to be frank they take a while to settle down as with all nylon type once settled down they stay in tune reasonably well ... yes Iā€™d use them again .. Ant D

    Aquitaine red uke/banjo strings

    I liked the tone when I first restrung my instrument but a couple of days later a string broke overnight. Internet research indicated a re-occurring theme of strings breaking often when the instrument was out of use. I ordered another set then changed my order to a different brand. I am an amateur but a professional a string breakage could be a real problem.

    Aquila Nylgut Red - Great Sound

    Installed on Barnes & Mullins UBJ2. Smaller diameter than the stock strings, I prefer the Aquila as fretting notes feels more precise. The strings take up to a week before tuning is stable (in a house very variable in temp room-to-room). I followed the instructions and took great care when first tuning up to pitch - keep the strings out of the nut slots until close to pitch. No string breakage to report, and a very nice tone, definitely the 'banjo-uke' sound. I use a foam pad in the drum of the uke if required to lower volume.
