Pricey, but worth it
Thought long (a year) and hard about this because of its price,but knowing I didn't have the skills to keep my turning tools accurate and sharp, just using a grindstone, took the plunge. I shouldn't have agonised over it for so long, because now my tools are sharp, and repeatedly so. It's not cheap, especially when you start adding in the various jigs (which do make life easier). The unit is heavy (15kg) but is solid. For the price, I'd have thought that more than 2 belts could have been supplied, but they're not outrageously expensive (and cheaper ones can be obtained from elsewhere). Changing belts is pretty straightforward and the mechanism for setting the correct bevel angles takes out all the uncertainty over accuracy. It's worth taking the time to research prices as the ... I have always been able to free hand grind my tools and maintain the correct angle, but advancing years, weakening eyesight and hands that are not as steady as they were have left me wanting. This machine has made it possible to once again be able to grind and maintain the correct angle on most of my tools . It is very well thought out and laid out making it very easy to set up and operate, the ideal machine for people who find grinding their tools both difficult and probably a chore. It is a pleasure to use and along with the various accessories that are available for the machine I would say it is one of the best buys on the market. Robert Sorby proedge sharpening system
Excellent designed and easy to use sharpening system. A lot of thought has gone into this and made it easy to use from complete novice through to professional's. In my opinion this system is the best buy on the market for this very reason.

Good but costly
This tool has transformed my chisels, my complaint would be that the basic is very basic. I bought the basic and then had to buy the upgrade unfortunately I still haven't all the necessary bits for sharpening turning tools. None of the reviews that I have read mention the amount of dust produced when re-shaping so please be aware. However, it does what it says on the tin at a price.
