Notes
A deeply personal songwriter, all of Floyd Jones' songs recorded traumatic events in his own life; whether it was his despair at the recession in "Ain't Times Hard", anger over unemployment in "Stockyard Blues", the frustration at his illiteracy in "Schooldays", or simply the heartbreak of a doomed relationship in "I Lost a Good Woman" and "On the Road Again". "Keep What You Got" is worthy of note because it was recorded again three years later by Howlin' Wolf for RPM - although the track was not released until 1961 when it appeared on a Crown LP - and there is some confusion over who wrote the song; it may even have originated in the days they travelled together as boys in the 1930s.
