    Super item for the make do and mend Boomers!

    This gadget does exactly what it's supposed to do. However, it has a wonderful weak point which is the riveted hinge. Why wonderful? Because when the hinge does give way it can be very simply repaired - short stainless steel bolt - stainless steel nyloc nut - two thin plastic or fibre washers - and give a further 100 years service. That's why!!

    Fine with standard lids but won't grip "sloping" lids

    This is great for standard shaped lids - works well by giving extra grip and leverage but when it comes to unusual shapes of lids - particularly those that have rounded sides - this works less well. Overall a good quality utensil that works well but has limited applications.

    A little 'fiddly'

    Bought because it was difficult to open some jar lids, but I find this as difficult to fit on to the lids, and actually grip. I will admit it could probably be me, but the reason it was bought was to make life easier, not to complicate it !!

    Revolutionise your jar-opening-life!

    Jar openers are great, they're a bit like a specialised pair of pliers. This is a good one/pair. It has sturdy handles and clamp with the necessary "teeth" to grab into the smooth edges of a jar lid and can fit many sizes of jar. One thing - you still usually need two people to use a jar opener - one to use this clever plier-like tool and one to hold the jar still. Nevetheless, very useful - every home should have one ..... or two!
