  • A useful book but not as comprehensive as "The Art of Violin Making"

A nicely written and interesting book. Juliet Barker has an established reputation as an instructor in Violin making. There is some very useful information particularly the nice table of dimension including those for fractional instruments. However unlike the Art of Violin Making by Courtnall and Johnson, I don't think you could really embark on a build without considerable previous knowledge. Of course this book is well under 25% of the cost. Still a very useful addition to any aspiring violin makers library.

  • An excellent book

By far the best practical guide available today. Sheds more light than heat on the subject matter. Superbly well-illustrated and written in plain, objective, concise, unemotional English, unlike most other books on the topic, especially those written in the 19th and early 20th century! This short book is essential reading for the beginner.

  • OK

    Dość dobry .
