It just works. If, like mine, yours has gone through many hands and not been maintained by any, this repair will make your machine run much smoother. As I'm a novice, I thought my issues were because of lack of knowledge. I read something that made me check my needle bar. There was no sponge, just a creamy, sticky, yucky mess where the sponge once was. In these cases, ignore the instructions, and clean the hell out of the bar. Then wipe with isopropal 99%. This kit has saved my sanity.
