This is a simple and effective way to connect a single ended pre-amp to a balanced power amp or a single ended device to a balanced pre-amp. Though do make sure that the connections into the device the connector is used on match the pin layout of the connector where Pin 1 is linked to pin 3 which is -ve or cold and pin 2 is the +ve or hot
