I need a small axe to chop up logs for our woodburner. This seemed to fit the bill and wasn't expensive so I purchased one. It does the job really well and chops up logs we have delivered into smaller pieces. I would have give it 5 stars but I am finding it quite heavy at 1.5kg (3.5lbs) although the listing shows it weighing only 1kg and I am getting some discomfort in my forearm when using it for and extended period of time. But for relatively short bursts it does what it needs to and does it well. It is not particularly sharp but the weight enables it to cut through standard dried logs ok. The way the head splays out means it does not jam which is a good feature. So I am happy with it but with the proviso it is a bit heavy for a small axe

Pretty much nothing fantastic, but it does the job adequately. If you are choosing this because of the broad head it does make a slightly better splitter, but the down side is it's a blunter cutting edge so you don't get as much penetration on your down stroke. On soft wood it performs well, on hard wood it isn't as good as a thinner head. Worth having, but you would also want another option, it struggles to make an impact sometimes, yet on the right wood it's brilliant

I bought this axe for general use in the garden, it's quite heavy but that's no problem also needed to be have a good edge put on it but it works fine for splitting logs and getting out roots and stuff. Would recommend. It arrived quickly and very good price.

This is a robust and heavy duty bit of kit. I had to sharpen it first of course and was very satisfied with the quality. Possibly a little too heavy in weight for the occasional "kindling user" but if you are splitting small logs this is ideal. Nice long shaft with excellent grip. The extra width on the head saves time and energy. I find it splits sculls completely open with a single strike. 😉

I bought this expecting great splitting... except after less than 5 minutes of use the edge became blunted. It hardly did the job I needed it to do so would I actually recommend it? No. I think it would have been a much more wiser decision on my part if I had opted for something which was a bit more expensive. What we have here isn't much, but £10... so... In the world of buying stuff, we know unless we're willing to part with decent money, we can expect not so decent product. It's a shame, really. Total waste.
