This cyclonic container does what it is supposed to - capture and trap debris effectively and efficiently. With this unit inline with a Rigid Shop-Vac I was able to pick up drywall dust, 3/4" OSB remnants after demo and cutting, small nails, dried caulking strips, and pretty much anything I threw at it. Somehow the internal filter in my Rigid came off at some point and while I noticed dust in the air, it actually took me a while to figure out I wasn't even filtering the air leaving the Dust Deputy! I had easily been through 2 filters for similar workload before finding this online. There was around 3" of debris in the bucket by then. It is clumsy to mount and move around, but I can't really fault the product itself as if it was smaller, it would not be effective. Going the 5-Gallon route meant Oneida could give us 100% functionality without a $300 price tag for R&D, materials, and manufacturing. $100 buys me 8 filters and I would still be left with the time, inconvenience, and health issues with frequently swapping the filter. I used a ratcheting tie-down to secure it to my shopvac in lieu of mounting on casters.. it's easier to move locations, but has a short range with the current hose I use. I would recommend buying another extension hose to avoid needing to move the shopvac around so much. Love the product enough to write this review.Read full review

Amazing system that I found out about on you tube. Using with a blast cabinet to reclaim glass bead media. Vacuum is not getting any glass beads or dust in it and the cyclone is catching all the media in the supplied bucket to be reused. Glad I found out about these before I wasted all my glass bead media. Would be great for dry wall dust and fine saw dust keeping the vacuum filter from getting clogged. Great product A++++++++++++++

Having had several businesses, warehouses, and garages, doing everything from mechanic work, vehicle cleaning, using sand blast cabinets, dog grooming etc, a shop vac is a necessity in keeping the place clean and presentable! Having washed and dried 100's of shop vac filters, replaced inner bags over the years, when I saw the you tube videos in this dust deputy, it was time to do some serious homework and research!! The cost of replacing filters far outweighs the cost of this system, and finding it online on ebay for less than $50 for the entire system is a no brainer!!! I'm using my glass bead sandblast cabinet with absolutely no dust flying around, wood cutting tools no leave no residue whatsoever and I would highly recommend this unit to everyone who wants to save hundreds of dollars. Endless hours of rinsing and blowing out worn out filters day after day week after week. Buy it use it and be satisfied knowing it's a necessity if you want a clean place to work and liveRead full review

I bought an early version of this device shortly after setting up my hobby shop in about 2005-6, and immediately realized that it was one of my best investments. It works wonders at collecting dust and debris before it would clog my ShopVac filter. The one thing I learned is that the dust bucket needs to be emptied when no more than ~2/3 full. More than that causes it to loose its turbo-collecting ability and it will pass the litter on into the vacuum itself. I always kept a spare filter available so if that happened I could switch to a clean filter and after emptying the Dust Deputy bucket use the system to clean up the clogged filter so to be ready for the next episode. This way I only used two vac filters in almost a dozen years. This particular unit was purchased as a gift to my son who is just now setting up his own shop!Read full review

This system is impressive! However, I would not recommend installing the three casters on the bottom of the 5 gallon bucket per the instructions. This makes the bucket very unstable and easy to tip over. I added one more caster, totaling 4 each, to the bottom of a piece of 1/2” particle board and four small pieces of 2X4’s to the top on each side to assist with keeping the bucket from moving around or tipping over. This set up seems to be working fine.

Plastic separator for the top. Steel drum. Wheels. Assembly required. Nice locking lid. Comes with a hose for hook up to a shop vac. I have it hooked up to a dewalt 13" wood plainer's chip exhaust/blower. This setup works really well. Wood chips and dust go to the bottom of the drum nothing blows out of the top.

I'm not sure how they figured this cyclone out, but I'm still amazed that my vacuum cleaner stays completely clean. My kids thinks it cool to watch the cyclone effect of the dust entering the bucket. This thing does exactly what it claims. I would definitely recommend it.

I was interested in the idea of a dust separator for a while but never knew if it was really worth it. I can say without a doubt that I'd never go back to working without one now. The Dust Deputy is able to keep almost everything I pick up from making it to my vacuum. I can fill the bucket and hardly see anything in the Shop Vac at all. The only issue I can see is the stress point where the Dust Deputy connect to the lid might need something to reinforce it. The plastic flexes quite a bit. Overall though I'd fully recommend this to anyone picking up fine dust or doing woodworking. I'd buy it again with no hesitation.
