    Should have read the spec

    Hi guys - nothing wrong with the tape - its actually as described - I should have spent more time reading the product details though rather than have been persuaded by the excellent price. I actually wanted a pocket STANLEY to replace my favourite item that I had mislaid - this tape is definitely a clip on the belt or carry in the tool box size. That was my error !! It is however very good - it has very clear markings in both imperial and metric and is most accurate. The hook is practical the extension and retraction is strong and not too fast although until its worn in not yet single finger operation. A good workmans tape for the money. Oh guess what - my lost tape turned up in my loft - discovered the same day the new one arrived - twas always thus !!!

    Massively overbuilt tape measure!

    Massively overbuilt tape measure! Yes, it is exceptionally masculine and weighs a ton. But, the lock lever is so tough, that I have given up ever actually operating it! Glides out very smoothly and will extend loads without bending. But, clip it onto your belt, or pocket as I do, and you'll be walking with a bad-boy limp because it weighs so much. I didn't even need an 8M tape! Should have gone with the 5M, and been happy with that.
