This was a band I'd first heard when they were still together -- quite novel at the time. The CD was one I'd looked for at record shops, but with no luck. Decided to check E-Bay, and there it was! Who are Random Hold? Probably the most prominent member of the band is David Rhodes (who played/plays with Peter Gabriel), and bass player Bill MaCormick (who was with Matching Mole, Quiet Sun, and 801 (which, in turn, featured Phil Manzanera and Brian Eno). Random Hold's first album was produced by Peter Hammill. Alienation, darkness and some delicious humour ('the view from here' being an example...) characterise the album. Well worth giving a spin. The re-mastering is very good, and the music still (and perhaps even more) relevant. They were ahead of their time, and it's a great pity we didn't get more from them. If you get a chance to get one, snap it up!Read full review
