About this product

Product Information

Professor Aronnax, his faithful servant, Conseil, and the Canadian harpooner, Ned Land, begin an extremely hazardous voyage to rid the seas of a little-known and terrifying sea monster. However, the monster turns out to be a giant submarine, commanded by the mysterious Captain Nemo, by whom they are soon held captive. So begins not only one of the great adventure classics by Jules Verne, the 'Father of Science Fiction', but also a truly fantastic voyage from the lost city of Atlantis to the South Pole. AUTHOR: Jules Verne (1828 -1905) is a French author who, although he did not invent Science Fiction, was probably the most influential writer in the genre. Although basing many of his ideas on the latest technological advances of his time, his invention was so meticulous as to be totally convincing. His novels, such 'Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea' and 'Journey to the Centre of Earth' are classics of enduring popularity.

Received the extremely well packaged book today, very prompt indeed. It was described as in 'very good condition', it certainly was and is, it looks new! And at the bottom of the invoice I was thanked for my purchase with this goodwill message added, 'I hope you love it'! A first class service, well done all involved.

Item delivered on time and as described. This is going to be a gift for a huge Jane Austen fan, so I won't be reading it, but it seems to have all of the content that was mentioned in the listing. It was a terrific price, too. Excellent service. Am more than happy to recommend seller. Thank you very much.

The book was bought for a 9 yr. old great grand son, who loves reading. The book was read(Not this edition) back in the 50's. The film watched in the early 60's, the story itself is removed from the modern 'junk' literature which abounds at the present, encouraging the reader to create a world in their imagination. Hopefully this will encourage him to read more from Jules Verne, H. G. Wells etc.
