About this product

Product Information

Taking its cue from the trading card game and inspired in part by the cartoon series, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Eternal Duelist Soul equips players with a deck of powerful cards and charges them with the task of becoming the best duelist in the world. Gameplay is composed of one-on-one, turn-based battles, where each player attempts to overpower the opposition's deck by the best use of the given cards. Unlike other Yu-Gi-Oh! titles, this handheld rendition adheres strictly to the rules established in the physical card game. The over 800 cards included in this digitized incarnation of the card game cover a wide assortment of trap, magic or ritual, and tribute monster summon card types with which to battle. Additionally, owners of the actual cards can utilize the passwords printed on them to "import" those cards into the GBA game.

Initially, players are able to choose from three different decks (Black, Red, or Green), each consisting of 40 different cards. Thereafter, players compete in a series of battles against increasingly tougher opponents. At first players are only able to challenge five rivals, including Yugi, Joey, Tristan, and Tea. Success in battle will grant players additional booster packs, containing five cards to be added to their collections. Eventually, they'll be challenged by another tier of newer, tougher opponents that should be familiar to fans of the show. Based on a typical calendar year, in-game battles advance time by a single day, with specific days yielding new booster packs to incorporate into collections, or new tournaments to enter. Unlike standard battles, the winner of tournament events is decided in a best-of-three match series.

During battle, players are free to summon monsters (each with their own particular elemental affinities and type) in attack or defensive positions, combine creatures to form stronger ones, and even imbue existing monsters with additional health or powers to utilize. Away from the tier-based single-player competition, players can make use of the link cable to duel against friends or trade cards from their respective decks.

Excellent seller! Bought a Wii u console from them and it came quickly and at a great price I’m honestly surprised at how good of shape it’s in its basically like new works straight out of the box and came packaged very nicely in protective bubble wrap. Will definitely purchase from this seller again in the future if I see anything I like ☺️

Item was in beautiful condition, described accurately, shipped quickly, and packed well enough to keep it safe for the journey. Little more needs to be said about the item at that point - so it's safe to say that I can highly recommend this seller.

    The Best Yu-Gi-Oh GBA Game

Easily the best Yu-Gi-Oh GBA Game. The duels with NPCs get harder and harder until it becomes a real challenge. There are many cards to collect. The gameplay is what you'd expect; addicting, turn-based Yu-Gi-Oh glory. One of the main downsides is that you can only have one deck, meaning that if you want to change your deck, you can't keep your old one to revert back to. This is more of a minor complaint. You should definitely get this game if you like Yu-Gi-Oh, and if you're new to Yu-Gi-Oh, give it a shot!

  • Eternal Duelist Game

Definately better than average game but with room for improvement. This was the first and only YuGiOh game i've ever owned and decided to purchase it again out of nostalgia, so i wasn't expecting much, but after i started playing a new game i imidiately found myself getting into it again :) The good: Game is full of stragety. You have to think to play, which is nice. Game centers around a reward system; the more characters you beat, the more cards you get to choose from allowing you to costumize your deck completely which leads to beating more characters! Full circle. Complicated for a card game, the sheer number of cards allows infinate kinds of decks to be created making each game different and interesting. Strategy and luck are fairly blanaced. The Bad: The only beef i have with this ...

  • Great Game

This is hands down the best trading card video game I've ever played. Your commands are carried out at a surprisingly fast pace with a lack of annoying cut-scenes. This game also offers a wide range of different playing cards and opponents you can face, but it also has a feature which allows you to add your own cards too! Although the creators had poor taste in music it never seems to last long enough to drive you crazy. If you're like me and like the game, but not spending lots of money for cards this game is for you!

  • Same as it ever was and that's awesome

Used to own this game, bought it again for my nephew to play to learn the basics of Duel Monsters. He played it once for 20'ish minutes and was done, which bummed me but then I played it again and it was just as fun as the first time I owned it. I realized after a little research that the rules in this Yu-Gi-Oh game are outdated compared to current day so the reason I bought it for my nephew was moot, but I'm still really enjoying playing it again. Puts me a little bit back in touch with me from 15'ish years ago. Probably going to pick up copies of Poke'mon Fire Red and Sapphire next, but finding legitimate Nintendo carts for Poke'mon can be frustratingly confusing on eBay.

  • Best duel simulator from Metal Raiders-ish era.

This game uses the advanced format rules (higher ATK kills regardless of typing, or other nonsense rules), and features characters from the anime. You build a deck piece by piece to run against Yugi and Joey's cookie-cutter beatdown decks, all the way through Seto Kaiba's Blue-Eyes to Pegasus' outright cheating by seeing what cards you play (even if you don't look first.) Cards can be gained 5 at a time semi-randomly between duels, or by inputting an 8-digit code. Additionally, with two copies of the game, two GBA consoles, and a link cable, cards can be transferred between cartridges. There are some minor glitches (for instance, thee card 'Last Will' does nothing), and earlier cartridges used a battery for saving, being inherently volatile, although the later half used a solid state ...
