I used only a 50mm standard lens for the first five years of serious photography. Technically the same perspective as the human eye fast speed (f1.8 or f2) it only was superseded by the wider angle 28mm. The 50 mm lens is the true work horse and tool of the photographer this one is one of the best. Easy to use, robust, sharp. Doing more than it says, everything you require, well all most.

I bought this standard lens because I was returning to 35mm photography after a long absence and when I dusted off my old Pentax MZ-5n I was less-than-happy with the 35-80 autofocus zoom that had come with it when I bought it back in 2001. I decided I wanted a prime manual-focus lens and this looked the best buy. The f1.7 or the f1.4 get rave reviews but they seemed to be quite a bit more expensive. I've had it nearly two months so far, and have not been disappointed with it. It's much more pleasant to use than the zoom lens, it's perfect for portraits and a whole lot else, and I get pin-sharp photos from it.
The Pentax normal f2.0/50mm A-series lens is great, it can be used in all K-mount bodies from K1000 to the latest digital versions. My rating is most near to excellent so I had to choose that. IS
Great
