I bought one of these in Devon for myself and it so impressed my other half he decided to get rid of his nikon and buy one too. Its got great features, easy to use and the picture quality both recording and taking stills is great. I have taken hundreds of pictures on it and it never disappoints. It has proved itself in all different kinds of situations be it parties, fireworks displays, at the beach or just for a random snap. Zoom is great and the LCD screen is large and clear. I like that you can switch to the viewfinder on very bright days. I pretty much take it everywhere now and it's not too big and bulky and no fussy lens changes so all in all a great camera for the money and well worth it for amature photographers looking for a good entry level camera
My daughter is studying photography and I am fairly new to digital. We wanted a camera with a significant range of manual and low light options as well as the usual bells and whistles. We haven't managed to find fault with this one yet. All the functions are clearly indicated and easy to find. The optics are easily good enough for a digital camera within reasonable limits - for instance I wouldn't expect fabulous definition at extreme zoom range but I do expect and get it between 35mm and 300mm equivalents. The price is exceptionally good for the quality. Only tiny niggle - no facility for remote shutter release - useful for low light tripod work - but you could set the timer I suppose.
With the Panasonic cameras, you have a head start in picture quality due to the superb Leica lenses. Add the new 14mp sensor, and there is a better chance that the extra resolution of the lens will be faithfully captured. Every conceivable feature you might want is included. From point and shoot automatic to full manual, and a host of gimmicks which are probably never used. I have had lots of Panasonic cameras over the years and found they outperform the opposition. If you buy this one you will be impressed.
had an older lumix, upgraded because I wanted an easier to use video facility as I work for a dog rescue and take lots of pics for the website. It isn't easy to get the dogs to pose and this makes it easier to get good images.. very easy to use, don't have any dislikes about it I have a nikon compact digital camera which is easier to carry about, bit not much, and has nowhere near the performance
I'm a professional photographer and wanted something much smaller than my Nikon to carry around at parties etc when I'm not working. So very impressed with this camera. Has skin smoothing which is excellent :) Lots of different modes to use and large clear screen to see images. Movie mode is superb and found there was enough light from my christmas tree to make a great short movie without flash although in low lighting you would need some kind of lighting. Would highly recommend this camera 10/10.
I was looking for a camera but I wanted a DSLR, then I came across a review about super soom compacts that have many features similar to an SLR. I found this Lumix and found a good bargain from this seller. In my country (Malta) the camera + 8 GB SD card would have cost me around 90 pounds more so I took a chance. I would recommend this seller and there's only one complaint as the postage to Malta was far too high and I didn't have an option so I had to send it to a friend in the UK (free postage) and he send it to me for 11 pounds. I had to correspond a lot with the seller and this was around New Year's Eve but I always received a prompt reply. Apart from this hassle I have no other complaints and would buy again from this company. I love the camera, it's perfect for me. I'm avoiding the hassle of changing lenses (with an optical lens ranging 25-600) it's more than enough for me. It is light so less camera shake. I'm taking very sharp photos and I started enjoying photography again after years of having a lousy digital compact. I would highly recommend this buy.Read full review
I wanted a smaller and lighter camera to carry in my rucksack when walking - I found the larger of my others too bulky and heavy. The Panasonic certainly meets my requirement, the photographs are certainly good and generally meet almost all my needs. However the camera does seem to lack the ability to offer a very small aperture and the depth of field this would give for some pictures. Otherwise it does meet my needs but is very different in operation (i.e. I have to remember that I am holding a different make of camera that has a different operating system and controls!)
I've been using these Lumix bridge cameras since 2005 and was immediately impressed by the simplicity and quality of what was on offer. The new FZ45 continues the theme and I've been pleased by the results so far. With a 32gb chip on-board I can shoot without regard for how many I'm taking. It's still lightweight and fits my hand well. The battery lasts longer than before and seems to charge more quickly; perhaps I'm more patient now! This is a well thought out camera that makes photography very enjoyable.
This is a nice camera to use, good size (will fit in a large coat pocket - it's not a compact) and handles nicely. The picture quality is good. The drawbacks are, you can't easily determine to focus points like you can on some cameras and the screen is fixed in place and can't be rotated etc, which would be very useful in some circumstances, such as trying to take photos from low angles. The screen resolution is OK, but more modern stuff is better. Anyway it's got a 24x zoom and takes good quality pictures and that makes it a good secondhand buy on ebay for around £60-70 (auction) depending on condition (in 2017). If you have a bit more to spend, I'd look at later versions (fz100/150/200) with the rotating/pivoting screen and the ability to determine the focus points yourself but at these prices its a very good way to get some good shots and experiment with manual settings (if you are thinking about going for a DSLR or Compact system camera). I have a DSLR too but if I'm going for a walk (or going on holiday) rather than going out specifically to take photos, then the pictures you get with this can be nearly as good without the burden of the size and weight of the DSLR and lenses. That said, with hindsight, I wish I paid a bit more and got one of the later models with the niggles fixed, in all honesty.Read full review

An excellent lightweight camera! Light in weight, but not in quality! Had decided to upgrade from my FZ28. Battery life of the FZ45 far superior to many (unable, yet, to locate a "spare"?). Arrived just in time for holiday trips - very pleased by its performance in low light conditions - larger screen a useful help in this respect. Outperforms more expensive/better known brands - am very impressed!
