This Hammerite direct to rusy paint is a lovely colour and goes on easily.. Two coats are definitely necessary on heavily rusted areas but the coverage is good and drips are minimal. I painted a two seater garden seat with lots of scrolls and fiddly bits and used about a third of a 750ml tin for one coat. Although I was painting in the shade, it was warm and the brush started to get a bit clogged as the paint dried quickly on it and it seemd to thickn in the tin so I would recommend regular stirring and wiping the brush to stop lumps transferring to the painted area. It would be perfect if this colour (wild thyme) was available in a spray can.

Have used this in several colours. This is a fab colour and have just repainted a garden bench, the rust showing in a couple of small patches. Goes on thickly and evenly and doesn’t drip unless you overload the brush. Lovely finish.

Easy to apply - looks great on our old iron chairs. Colour is like a National Trust green so looks lovely in the garden.

I used this on steel gate & railings which I primed 1st with hammerite special metals primer because I found there where galvanised parts to the railings. It has good coverage and applied like a dream. Does what it says on the tin. A bit pricey but equal in comparison and it was the colour the wife wanted 🙂. April 2020.

Covers (metal chairs which were painted and then sanded as preparation) quite well though needed a minimum of two coats to achieve even coverage. Now looks very smart. Small point...The colour is not very suitable for garden furniture if placed on grass -its very drab and needs light bright white or cream paving to set it off.
