    Another Good Acorn Detective Series

    I found series one of The Last Detective at a rummage sale for very little, and since it was an Acorn detective series, I thought it might be worth checking out. I really enjoyed it, so I recently I decided to look into finding additional episodes. Series 4 is the end of the series. These stories have a basic formula that they follow episode to episode so there are moments when that formulaic pattern might weaken to storyline. But on the positive side, there is a thread of ironic humor woven into the episodes, so they stay upbeat even as the crime investigation plays out. The main character "Dangerous Davies" is likeable, so you want to see how his investigation and personal situations work out in the end, and he has a wacky sidekick to keep the friendship, warmth & humor in the ...
