    THE DOOBIE BROTHERS - THE CAPTAIN AND ME : The best Doobies there is

    THE CAPTAIN AND ME is arguably the finest Doobie Brothers album of all time. It contains two of their most emblematic hit songs "China Grove" and "Long Train Runnin'". You simply cannot hear the opening bars of China Grove and not think Doobie Brothers right away. To my tastes, this album is their strongest in the areas of well-written songs lyrically and musically, great performance and it all just comes together as a suite of unforgettable music. There is no track on this album that is a throw-away. They're all great in their own right. This album is a timeless treasure and the group's signature classic. If you like the pre-Michael McDonald sound of the Doobie Brothers, this album is a must-have.
