This vocal effects pedal is great! It has everything right under your toes. I am a busker (street performer) primarily so I am almost always alone with just me an my guitar. Having the ability to add an extra voice or two in some of the songs makes it interesting for my audience and for me. It works all day on 4 -AA batteries (which my seller was kind enough to include a set!). It automatically sets the key for the chords the guitar plays but it does not color the guitar tone at all. The indicator lights work well in bright light and in low light so you can always see where it is set. Best of all, it from Boss so you know it is high quality. I've added some photos of my busking rig to show what I mean about it's ease of use. It does not have a tuner (which is great because I don't need more tuners built into everything!) Read full review

I play mostly acoustic guitar and practice a lot with karaoke. This device is magical! Its a perfect backup singer without any personal problems or bad breath. Its never late and can't stand you up if you can keep fresh batteries in it. Otherwise, I recommend using the Boss PSA-120S A/C power adapter (sold separately.) If you can't make this thing work you have only yourself to kick out of the band... It works best for me on old Eagles tunes that require a strong harmony. Just set the Key on the switch panel or plug a guitar into it. It figures out the rest on its own. Nice strong harmonies with plenty of reverb/delay options. If you enjoy working songs out on your own and crave a good harmony, this is the device that you need. I'm using it with a Shure Beta 57A mic and a Peavey PV i6500 mixer mated to a Kustom 10 inch passive PA monitor. It all fits in my kitchen quite nicely.Read full review

The Boss VE-2 Pedal does harmonies well but there are not as many availible as with the TC Helicon Voice Touch/Live Series but it is decent for live presentations and more portable. The optional pedal jack for switching comes with the ability to change your programmed harmonies on the fly. The guitar passes through without modifying the instrument sound. Simple setup although the programming is cryptic.

I've had two different TC Electronics boxes before this one. Hoping I'd like the Boss sound better. It's just ok. I dislike the artificial sound (in the TCs too) so keeping the harmony voice low in the mix helps. Use it sparingly and it can add. Too much and it will detract from your song.

I bought this for $175 or so. It really does a great job on harmonies, but it's designed primarily for a guitar player, hence the guitar jack on the unit. I'm a drummer, so I have to use the key selector, which adds a step before we can start the song, since I have to reach down and select the key. I've tried plugging the guitar player into it, but unless he's playing chords behind the song, it's not too accurate. Once he starts to noodle a bit the thing gets confused. Also, if you're singing lead, you need to hit the note bang on or the harmonies sound off. There's no option for allowing the backup singers to hide your clam!! :D It's a great investment for the price
