I wanted a device that could give me turn by turn navigation and not by preloaded maps. The display is great, it shows everything you need to know (time, speed, elevation, etc). The touch screen is sensitive enough to react through my winter gloves and is easy to scroll through different screens if you want to. It automatically uploads my rides to Strava and displays calls and texts if I get them while riding. The screen is also easy to read and not that bad in sun glare. I also really like that it gives my parents peace of mind while I'm riding through the live track feature. It also has incident detection which I hope I never have to use but am glad that I have just in case. In sum, it has great features... anything you would want if you are a serious cyclist however, it is on the pricey side and if you don't want to spend the money you should get the edge 520 instead. I would definitely recommend this product.Read full review

First the name is a poor choice. The Edge 820 is a model that does more than the Edge Explore 820. The Explore does not have the ability to connect to a power meter and yet it is a more expensive model than the Edge 520. Maybe it's just me but if you enhance a name on a product it usually means it has more features this shouldn't even be an 820 but if it is than it should be called something like Economy or lite. Anyhow if you feel you need one of these the touch screen is very annoying it either doesn't react to your touch or jumps to things you haven't tried to touch. Bottom line is with all the cell phones out there that have no issue with the screen it's amazing that a new product would. As far as being intuitive to use well it's OK but not great and of course there are no instructions included so it all online. That isn't so bad but for the money it would be nice if the quick manual had a bit more in it. Also in the search you'll get all kinds of info on the Edge 820 that will mislead you since this is an explorer. It really needs a different number. By the way I have great luck with my other Garmin products so it's just this one. I have a Fenix 3HR, Edge 520 and a Nuvi that are all great products.Read full review

I wanted something just better than my Garmin 800. This is space age compared to my old Garmin. More stuff than I need right now but probably will be using in the near future. Still easy to set up and use and pairs with my heart monitor and Power meter easily. A great unit.

Great cycling computer. Easy to use with some great features, especially the automatic upload to Garmin Connect and the ability to see incoming calls and texts on the device.

In this very good product of Garmin, we can find many variables and possibilities, it is ideal for cyclists who want to have all the data about their training, trip, excursion, race, etc. But the negative point if there is any, there is no relation between price and benefits, although it is electronically remarkable, it is too expensive for the benefits it presents. It fulfills its function correctly.
