I actually own several of these IRiver T10 models (from 512 up to 2GB). The reasons I do are several: first they are powered by external batteries (not that Apple/Ipod thing where you have to send your player in to have the battery "surgically" replaced) and they play for many hours on a AA battery before they need replacing; next, they are very easy to load/manage with regard to music; you can run them as either MTP or UMS versions which makes drag/drop of music files a snap; lastly, the sound of these little winders is hard to describe! IRiver has been known for many years as having superior/rich sound quality and these T models do not disappoint: they come loaded with both a user equalizer as well as pre-programmed EQ levels and SRS settings; by managing these settings, one can produce amazing sound quality for live concert/normal studio recordings that, in my humble opinion, far surpasses anything that Ipod can offer. While these have been discontinued by Reigncomm (IRiver) they are fully supportabled with firmware available on the web. Amazing little products!Read full review
Not a big music fan, so the 512MB model is enough for me. I have purchased several of these over the years as I thought such a good product would not be made forever. I was right. In order to preserve mine I DO NOT use the lock switch feature as this is susceptible to breakage. Also, I use a dual head phone jumper and a USB cable jumper out of the T10 so I don't have to wear the sockets on the unit. This eliminates breakage of these 3 vulnerable locations. Good luck and enjoy.

I like these, This is not my first one and they do use battery's. The wired head phones cable works as the radio antenna. If the head phone cable gets pulled to hard too many times (cord gets hooked on something) it will weaken the head phone connector and one side of the headphones cuts out, but that is the only weakness I have found. But I listen to the radio every day at work every day and have no reception problems at all. It is also a MP3 player audio recorder (w/ built in microphone).

iRiver really makes good products. The iRiver T10 has a better menu system then their older products. The long battery life is really a plus. The best feature is selecting between 1.2 and 1.5 volt batteries. This allows for rechargable batteries. Call it the green machine.
I have only used my iRiver player about five times, but I really enjoy it. I was especially excited to find that I could play it over my car's speaker system by plugging the cassette adapter into this device! Now I won't need to carry stacks of CDs! The ear pieces are difficult to use, and are not comfortable. I will probably replace them with a different set. Learning the functions is not very intuitive, but once you master them, it's okay. I was so satisfied with this item that I have purchased several more to give to family members!
