Great 50mm Macro that can compete with the Zeiss 55 1.8

I have the Sony A6500 ASPC camera and so far I love it. I have been collecting lenses for it since I got it and find that some excellent lens that are no longer being made is the Minolta brand that was bought out by Sony several years ago. I have the Zeiss 55 1.8 full frame lens and it is a killer of a lens. Highly recommended. I wanted a lens that I could use and not care about as much as the Zeiss is around 700-750 dollars. I wanted a sharp lens and seeing how the Sony A6500 has in body stabilization, an OSS lens was not really on top of my list. I have other lenses that are Sony "A" mount lenses and so I have the Sony LAEA3 and Sony LAEA4 lens adapters. I use the EA3 adapter for my Sigma A mount 18-35MM lens and it works great. I have the LAEA4 for all the other lenses that have screw ...

  • Konica Minolta AF 50mm f/2.8 Macro Lens

I think this lens would be a "must have" for anyone who wants to do closeup photography. It focuses quietly, rapidly and smoothly. I bought it mainly to shoot plants and flowers. Then, thinking I had more urgent uses, I used it at home and took it to the bank to take pictures of my jewelery--something I should have done years ago to create a record of important pieces for the insurance company, police, whomever. I also tried it on coins, and stamps. I could not ask for clearer brighter, better pictures. Very impressive, indeed, without any computer enhancement. Both circle lens light and regular flash worked well with it. I used it on Minolta xi cameras. I can only imagine what it will do on Sony Alpha 350, 700 and 900, even 100 or 200. I am planning to find out soon. I ...

  • Highly recommended all in one prime with macro and low light shots.

Very good fast lens with great optics and pleasing results. I would love to have focus limiter like SAL50M28 but than again, the price difference makes up for the lack of it. If you are looking to pick up good quality lens for your Sony DSLR/SLT cameras (I have A55), this would be a good prime to have. Keep in mind APS-C crop factor of ~1.5x usually means you will be standing farther from your subject than you like (except in macro shots) which is a negative for tight spots wher eyou can't move around much. This is expected with any full frame lense on APS-C sensors though. Overall, highly recommended all in one prime lens that can do macro and take great low light shots.

  • Great value for money

With my camera I have several lenses. This is the latest and the best ever. I bought it for the macro option it has but it offers so much more. Crisp an clear images. Every picture looks great.

  • Excellent Macro Lens.

This is an excellent 1:1 Macro lens. I've had it for about 8 years now and it performs flawlessly. I also moved it from my old film Minolta Maxxum 600i to the Digital Konica-Minolta 7D. Still an excellent performer. The construction is rugged and size is relatively small. The front element is deeply recessed inside the lens chamber so there is no need for hoods and no flare issues unless you're shooting directly into the sun. The Autofocus is also very fast with it. I think it has both aspherical elements and LD glass. That's why the image quality is so good. About the only negative thing I can say is that the limiter switch was very shabby and broke off. Now I use a pair of tweezers to switch to Macro Mode. However, that's after almost a decade of use and I could have fixed it easily. ...
