This is going to need a fair amount of practical ability to get right. I specified a particular flue size but it came ½" larger so the fan would simply suck air from the atmosphere around the flue as opposed to up it as intended, therefore requiring a higher speed setting than would be needed if it was a good fit. I have the facilities to correct this fault but not many will

In this regard, we would like to specify that there was no error, and we also explain why. You ordered the model with a 20mm flue adapter. The adapter we supply is approximately 1/2 cm larger, this is because it will have to adapt externally to your flue.
