Synopsis
One of the greatest sports figures of all time breaks his silence in a memoir as unique as the man himself. He has never written a memoir, authorized a biography, or talked to journalists about his past, but now he is finally ready to tell his story. Bobby Orr is often referred to as the greatest ever to play the game of hockey. From 1966 through the mid-seventies, he could change a game just by stepping on the ice. No defenseman had ever played the way he did, or received so many trophies, or set so many records, several of which still stand today. But all the brilliant achievements leave unsaid as much as they reveal. They don t tell what inspired Orr, what drove him, what it was like for a shy small-town kid to suddenly land in the full glare of the media. They don t tell what it was like when the agent he regarded as a brother betrayed him and left him in financial ruin. They don t tell what he thinks of the game of hockey today. He is speaking out now because I am a parent and a grandparent and I believe that I have lessons worth passing on. Orr: My Story is more than a book about hockey it is about the making of a man.", One of the greatest sports figures of all time breaks his silence in a memoir as unique as the man himself. Bobby Orr shares his story, incuding everyone and all throughout his journey.

Not only the trials and tributes of a great hockey player, but much more about what it takes to get there. He includes the entire picture of family, friends and situations.

  • Bobby Orr "My Story", A book for any TRUE Bobby Orr Fan.

I bought "My Story" By Bobby Orr as a gift for my Fiancé this Christmas. She said it was the best gift she received this year. Just to own a piece of history that Bobby Orr himself signed was just over the Top for her. The book was well illustrated. It has allot of things she never knew about the man, that she said was nice to know. I would strongly suggest anyone who is a fan of Bobby Orr to purchase this book. By her reactions to the book it will be a favorite of any fan. It also brought back great memories of her dad taking her to see him play. The only thing I could do for her as a fan of Mr. Orr would be to somehow have her meet him. She'd be a mess, as the great memories of watching him with her father would rush to her heart. But as the book is, it would be WELL WORTH IT!!!

  • Great book by a great man. Not just for hockey fans!

Greatest hockey player ever! Changed what it meant to "play defense." Many hockey fans have waited for this book for 30 years. Many respect him for things that have nothing to do with sports. His sportmanship on and off the ice was legendary. Thank you for writing the book Mr. Orr. You gave my dad a free pass so I could attend your camp in 1975. That's what he did all the time, looked for ways to help, with no fanfare. You've been a lifelong role model for me. Enjoy the book, spoiler alert: he's awesome!

  • Orr, My Story

I haven't finished reading the book yet but enjoyed what I've read so far. I hope someday I can meet the legend face to face for an autograph and a funny story of his.
