    Great for Patriots/Belichick afficionados

    As a Patriot fan who suffered in the 20th C and rejoiced in the 21st, I was fascinated by this tight, well-written history of Belichick, his family, and the Patriots' rise to prominence. For me, Halberstam's account of his growth as a coach and a man, his unique intellect and work ethic, and the principles on which the historic Patriots dynasty has been built, was highly readable and illuminating. Halberstam doesn't have the glibness of a sports writer, but neither is he dryly academic; his writing is terse and fluid, though he repeats analyses of Belichick's character too often. But if you aren't a Patriots fan, or interested in how championship teams are made, the book may be dry and lacking in flash.     Belichick.............lots of insight and so well written by David Halberstam

    There is a lot of intrigue about Bill Belichick for me. He does not let many people in but he did let David Halberstam and the result is a very good read and very insightful. You learn who the coach is and a lot about his attitudes and how he evolved into possibly the greatest NFL coach ever ............but certainly the best of our time.
