Theaudience fronted by popular singer and dance artist Sophie Ellis-Bextor was truly lovely and perfect indie brit-pop released in the late 90's. The satirical lyrics, combined with innocence and the sweetness with which they are sung make this album a true accomplishment and instant classic. Some people compare them to 10,000 Maniacs combined with the Beautiful South. But I think they are a breath of fresh air and the type of perfect pop that stands the test of time. Highlights are 'A Pessimist Is Never Disappointed', 'If You Can't Do It When You're Young', 'I Know Enough (I Don't Get Enough)' and 'I've Got The Wherewithal'. If you're a fan of Indie Brit-Pop Bands like Saint Etienne, et al. then you will be guaranteed to love Theaudience.
One lost their original copy and it was a must have album to find.Knew Billy Reeves work via the congregation(another lost album)so as Billy was soon to release a solo album. One found and purchased the audience again. It's just an album that is brimming with tracks that are as relevant today as they were when first released. Many will know that this album kick started the music career of Sophie Ellis Bextor and her voice of one so young has the maturity to carry these tracks immensely.
