About this product

Product Information

Viewed through our photographs, it would seem we have lived a joyous, leisurely existence. Sy Parrish (Robin Williams), who makes this observation, adversely leads a lonely life, operating a photo lab in a SavMart department store. He escapes his dreary reality through the family photos of Nancy Yorkin (Connie Nielsen) and her family. His admiration of the Yorkins becomes an obsession, as he fashions himself as Uncle Sy to little Jake (Dylan Smith). Sy's judgment becomes impaired by his unhealthy interest, causing him to lose his job of 11 years. As his final day approaches, Sy develops photographs revealing an indiscretion on the part of Mr. Yorkin (Michael Vartan). The unstable Sy now develops a disturbing, calculated plan to instill family values to the Yorkin clan.Much of ONE HOUR PHOTO takes place inside a department store similar to a Wal-Mart, bordered in an icy blue. This cold atmosphere creates a solitary framework for the disturbed photo developer Sy Parrish, played with a melancholic detachment by Williams, working here against type. Director Mark Romanek (STATIC) has created a thriller with little violence. Instead, it is permeated with an uncomfortable fear emanating from its damaged protagonist.

Great movie, buy it without hesitation!

Love this movie, love Robin Williams. He usually does comedy but this is a serious role and he is great in it, a great actor. The movie has a slowish start, but then gets interesting and turns into a movie well worth watching in my opinion. Makes you think; how good peoples lives can be permanently ruined, and how unforeseen consequences of our behavior can happen.

  • Robin Williams Multi-Faceted Character Rates "Good"

Sy the Photo Guy is a film processor working at the Sav Mart. Poor Sy is lonely and seemingly has no family or friends. He spends his time obsessing over the Yorkin family who he gets to know by developing their family pictures. Sy would do anything for the Yorkin's, but in the same sense he is stalking them unbeknownst to them. When Sy discovers that the perfect picture he has painted of the family in his mind is not what he expected, he formulates a plot to expose the truth. Robin Williams plays the multi-faceted Sy Parrish in a performance that goes from sweet to obsessive and angry. The range of Sy's character is really the star of the show. Sy's fantasies about becoming a part of the Yorkin family have funny moments as well as times where you are actually on his side pulling ...

  • ROBIN WILLIAMS AT HIS BEST

If you like Robin Williams in a serious mood. This movie will let you know who is really in a different focus. After viewing this movie Robin plays a strange person. I believe this part of this movie shows that he can play any roles besides making people laugh which I think he isn't that funny in my view. Robin shows love, and other hidden ways during the movie. His emotions get out of hand all though the movie. I hope they have a sequel of this movie. They can use some of the ideas from this movie but add more his role. You know what I mean after watching this movie... Thumbs UP on this movie. Check out~~!!

  • From Comic to Actor

Robin Williams gives a flip side dramatic performance from his well known comedy genre. One might say closely parrallel with his own life. Not verbatim of course, but rather indicative of how society and the people we are influenced by can mold individual personalities that will play out for the rest of their life.
