I accidentally bought this (DCR-150) instead of -250, mistake was on my part and seller was quick to respond and kind enough to cancel the order. Since I now have both, I'll post a quick comparison: In short, both work with any lens, primes are better, and pairing them with real macro lenses work wonders. If you want max possible magnification, get DCR-250. If you want a more forgiving experience, get this one. DCR-150 is also seems less demanding on the sharpness of the lens its attached to.

    Excellent as a "tube lens."

I got this to use as a "tube lens" with a Nikon 10x infinite microscope objective for extreme macrophotography. I was using an old Pentax f/4 200mm lens for this purpose. I thought the Pentax was very good, but I think the Raynox is a little bit sharper and renders color better. Btw, I use approximately 167mm of M42 extensions with the Raynox, which works well for me, filling my full-frame camera sensor with a well focused image. I do stacking, and after image processing, the final image corners are a little soft. That may have more to do with the stacking process than the Raynox. I haven't used the Raynox on an APS-C camera, but I hear it works great with that sensor size. I recommend the Raynox as a tube lens. Thanks.

  • A truly excellent product

I bought this for my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70 and I'm completely satisfied. The build quality, ease of use and superb image results are outstanding. I have tried some handheld shots but while some of them came out quite well, to get really high magnification I recommend a sturdy tripod. The depth of field is very small, which is fine as unwanted background items are easily blurred. I strongly endorse this product for any photographer who wants to get really close-up shots of his subject matter. I've started looking all over for insects and other small things to inspect and shoot, it's very rewarding to be able to get nice detailed images of them!

  • Great

This really is nice. It fits well on my Panasonic FZ200. It does magnify the subject and makes for a very sharp photo. You have to zoom a tiny bit to avoid the telescopic vignetting but after a few shots, you get the hang of where the sweet spot is. Attached are photos I took of the back of a zinnia, a newly forming strawberry and a cicada. All with this RAYNOX DCR-150 MACRO CLOSE-UP LENS

  • nice affordable

it is nice at a good price for macro photography. the lens is somewhat good built, but the adapter is very weak and breaks easily. i strongly suggest offering the lens with a range of different adapter rings that each can buy to match his lenses.
