    Deep feelings just beneath the surface

    Even though some may think of Christopher Foyle as an unfeeling stoic, you catch glimpses of his deep emotions. Whenever Sam does something or says something, his eyes light up, his head turns, his lips purse, his forehead frowns slightly. Their relationship as co-workers gradually grows to something greater. Foyle comes to care for Sam as he would for his own daughter, and she responds. They are the only two characters who appear in all the episodes, and their friendship is recurrent and and touching. It is rare to find an action story with such a delightful emotional drive. I did not grasp that quality of Foyle's War until I saw several episodes in close succession. I am glad I bought the series.

    Superb television drama

    This is television dram at its very best. The blending of "run of the mill" crime solving with the events of World War II in southern England, followed in seasons 6-8 with combating the influence of the Soviet Union, is superb. Michael Kitchen as D.C.S. Foyle is terrific.

    Excellent Show...will miss it!

    Foyle's War gets alot of its appeal from its historical accuracy, which gives it a good solid feel. The producers avoid putting in things just for the sake of "a good story", which is why they've decided to discontinue making the films; apparently they didn't want to add more to the story than the people (on whom the show is based) actually experienced. I think the whole thing is very well produced: the plots are interesting without being overly involved and the characters conduct themselves like real people would. I think it is very well-written and will miss watching it.
