    There's a reason it's cheap...

    Years ago, I bought a Coby DVD player and didn't have problems with it. I was nervous about purchasing it back them since Coby is a no-name electronics brand, but it worked well. Gave it to a friend when I moved across the country. The DVD player I bought recently (May 2010) is crap. It is very finicky and it won't play always play a regular, non-burned/bootleg DVD. It plays burns ok. It's very frustrating that it won't play regular, region 1 (US) DVDs, and I have stuff I can't watch on this thing. It also gets hot to the touch very quickly. If you try to put it on it's side, for ventilation, it often will act up. I'll have to pony up $$$ to get a decent DVD player soon.
