Facts of Life
In a world where many people write and speak about things they know very little about, this was a pleasant and educational surprise. Massad Ayoob is a professional and gives you honest facts despite their political incorrectness - he separates myth from what actually works because he's seen what doesn't work. Very articulate, very detailed, very honest. I'd call this a reference textbook for self protection that should be read 10 times to absorb everything. True, the handgun info from 1983 is outdated, but what worked then can still work now, it's not wrong information, just not up-to-the-minute data on handgun developments. The book is not all about guns by any means, but about all the science and techniques that prevent getting into the situation where you must use a gun to save your ... Its just what I thought it would be. I'm very happy I bought it. If the info I've learned from the book helps me in just one situation I'll by very happy.

time for an update.
Great author, read his other books. This one has some good info, but much of the material is very dated, this was orig published in the 1980's, and appears to not have ever been updated.
