  • 1997 Sirs Ian McKellen, Mick Jagger Cameos WWII AntiGay

This is the best contemporary WWII movie I've critiqued! I'd watch anything with Sirs Ian McKellen & Mick Jagger in it. Jagger as Greta is a very convincing transvestite during the beginning of Hitler's anti-GLBT book burning & human genocidal round ups. The 1 hr 44min gay, transvestite, and transsexual men holocaust movie is the best (non)documentary portrayal of historical WWII facts. McKellen's use of the word "Fluffs" for gay men is hysterical & probably historical as well, of the early 1930's Berlin lingo, where GLBT life once flourished before Hitler. Jagger's song in drag that begs to know, 'will we be remembered when we're gone' is chilling & unforgettable. Clive Owen pretends to be Jewish rather than gay because Lothaire Bluteau convinces him, as they walk along like chattel in ...

  • DVD BENT! Awesome!

"An interesting cast fills out this solemn production based on the play by Martin Sherman (who also wrote the screenplay). During WWII, a Berlin homosexual is caught up in the Nazi hysteria. After a series a constitution-breaking incidents, his love for a fellow male prisoner brings him to admit his true nature. Features Mick Jagger in a brief role as a drag queen." A Must see film depicting the treatment of homosexuals during WWII. Clive Owen gives a wonderful performance. Mick Jagger stars in a short cameo as a DRAG QUEEN! My favorite scene is when the two prisoners make love without the touch of one another. Vivid Imageries. A must see. Get out ...

  • Clive Owen's performance was Oscar Worthy!

The film Bent portrays the persecution of homosexuals during the Nazi reign of terror, a subject unknown to many, overlooked by others, but clearly overshadowed by the Third Reich’s more infamous genocide of the Jews. Adapted for the screen by Martin Sherman (author of the ground-breaking and award-winning play of the same name), the movie is essentially about the triumph of the human spirit over perceivably insurmountable obstacles. Clive Owens performance is amazing and heartwrenching in this Excellent Drama. Sean Mathias direction brought fine performances from leading actors Clive Owen and Lothaire Bluteau and effective cameos from veterans Mick Jagger and Ian McKellen, as well as rising stars like Jude Law and Rupert Graves. A remarkable film with remarkable actors.

  • A powerful film to understand the gayictims and survivors of the Holocaust.

Fantastic, gripping, story of the enduring power of love amid the horror of the Dachau labor camp. Historically accurate, this superbly acted film highlights an often overlooked period of the Holocaust. This film is a must for every gay man who wants to understand his history. Human history includes this black stain and yet, we can reclaim the pink triangle as a symbol of power and pride. Love endures and the human spirit survives.
