A very good source for this subject. Covers a lot of info in an easy to understand format. Very good, clear photos. All in all, glad I got this little gem.

Tom Kirkman has introduced yet another, aspiring to self-build rods. Truly a baseline/backbone guide and reference, still in complete step with design, process and materials, ten years later...nothing much has changed after graphite's introduction. Also are further references noted including joining 'the Guild' and the only 'Building Magazine' on the market which you wont find on the stands ever. I recommend as a first read and keeper.
Thinking it would be fun and challenging to try a new hobby this winter is how I found this book. While I like to fish I had no idea what goes on in building a rod. To me there is a lot of information in this book that is kept simple to understand. When I finished the book I was left with no doubt that I could not only build one, but avoid a lot of "rookie" mistakes that come from being a beginner. This book really is a great place to start
This book is very easy to read and understand. Many clear illistrations and easy to follow directions. I havent started on a rod yet, but as I have never done it before, I feel this book has really given me a basis of knowledge as to where to go for materials and what to look for to build the rod I want to catch my fish with!
Read the book and found the simple mistakes I was making. The clear pictures makes it even easier.Quick and easy to see each part of the rod making process and easy to understand..
