For some background-- I have zero dance training, though I've always been an athlete and have taken aerobic dance classes before. I got this dvd to get back into cardio exercise after a few years of not exercising regularly; this seemed fun and I've always wanted to learn some sexy moves. So far, in two days, I have (kinda sorta) learned 2/3 dances. The instruction part is okay (better than the Tracey Anderson method dvds, which has the quickest instruction time I've ever come across in an exercise dvd), however she is not always specific about which leg you step with or end a move on, and the music is fast paced the whole way through, so you can easily get lost in the beat as you're learning the steps. Also, the camera sometimes isolates on certain body parts when I need to see what she's doing with her whole body. I have to rewind several times to see the moves again and/or pause to figure out which foot goes where and which way to spin my head. However, if you persist and take your time to learn the moves, it's pretty fun. I definitely break into a sweat even as I'm learning the moves and I feel some soreness in almost all muscle groups the day after. I do recommend this if you have some coordination and rhythm to begin with. There is definitely a lot more "dance" in this dvd than the more repetitive aerobic dance classes I'm used to.Read full review
I can't give it a 5 only because I haven't gone through the whole routine yet. Based upon my "intro" time, I really like what this dvd has to offer because I think Julianne inspiring and clearly explains. I also wanted this to learn this generation of rhythm! Yes, I'm an 80's new-wave / diso / rock girl (lol),...never thought age 49 would be different for me when I was 19! Anyway,..for me, it's about getting back into the rhythm of things (love music) and I USE TO enjoy the dance floor. I'm thankful to be doing this 'alone' right now but plan to rejuvenate a bit and feel shapely once more!
It's pretty fun. It'll get your heart rate up a little, but nothing too extreme. I guess it depends on the person. I broke into a little sweat, but for someone who is used to running miles or doing hours of cardio, this probably isn't the dvd for you. I pop this in when I want a little cardio, but nothing too over the top. It's also pretty fun and beats always doing the bike. I've done it twice so far. For the price, i'd recommend it.
The first time I used this workout dvd, i was pretty impressed. However, once you learn the 3 mini dances… that's pretty much it. And as far as dancing with the dvd everyday, it's very inconvenient. I don't want to keep learning and walking through all the dance steps after I already know them. It might be better if you could put all 3 mini dances together and do those dances everyday, but no such luck. The format of the dvd is a little off. You warm up, learn some key moves, learn dance one, two, and three and you cool down. Like I said, it's pretty fun the moment you get the dances down. After that, it's kind of pointless to continue putting this into your dvd player. Sorry Julianne. I still love you.
I enjoy the dvd because it makes me want to get up and do cardio dance.

I decided to buy this DVD because I find it easier to exercise to music. But was disappointed that the music was not very loud. The instructions come over loud and clear. But the dance music is low and in the background. When you are grooving to the beat you need to hear it!! Other than that it is a great routine.
Definitely makes you sweat. There are 3 different dances. Most moves are fun and sexy, but some are just odd haha Either way, it gets the job done. Very fun workout!
Oh yea! REally like Julianne HOugh and this is a fabulous work out because I can dance!!!!!!
