Upgraded from a Samsung J5 as I'd run out of memory, other than that the 3year old J5 was fine. Slightly different set up with the A40 but just a matter of getting used to it. No huge difference in physical size, maybe a little slimmer and lighter. The biggest criticism I have though is that everyone (Samsung, Google, etc.) assume you're just going to accept default settings of letting them see everything you do on your phone (contacts, location, what's on the SIM, what's on the memory card, etc.) - it's a pain in the rear to have to keep checking settings and ensure all my information is safe from prying eyes!!!!

It may be a year old but the Galaxy A40 is every bit as good as its successor (Galaxy A41, which my wife has) for my needs. It takes decent pictures, loads web pages quickly, has latest version of Android and has a super display. Oh and its light and nice and comfy for small hands. Why pay £1k for a phone to take pictures of your breakfast? Professional reviewers go into rhapsodies over incremental improvements which most users will never notice. For those who like to show off their latest tech and have the cash to do so, good luck - the mid-range suits me just fine. Bought this to replace a faulty Motorola G6, and it is far better. It's lightweight, and has a bigger screen in a smaller frame! Response times are good too. I love this phone.
