Excellent little lightweight amp that sounds a lot better than most other digital amps out there (and I’ve tried a fair few). It doesn’t have the depth of a good valve amp, of course (my gigging amp is a Mesa Boogie). I have however used this on a smaller gig and it did a fine job. It’s great for home use with its 0.5 watt setting, Hookup with a computer is very much recommended if you want to get the most out of the Katana, be aware however that the editing/librarian software is likely to give a few installation teething troubles to start with, for instance Adobe Air is required so make sure your computer is capable of running the software reliably, it now runs fine for me on Windows 7,

This amp is a well conceived product for those want a light-weight but powerful guitar amp that is versatile and loaded with useful features. The range of basic amp models available gives a useful range of tones to cover most bases including jazz, blues and rock - plus the useful provision of an electro-accoustic guitar amp setting. The ability to store two foot-switchable (pre-arranged) settings allows easy change over from rhythm to lead each with separate effects such as delay, chorus, blues drive etc. Great for band practices/jams as you just take along your guitar and the (easy to carry amp) - and don't need to bring any pedals as you have it all there in one box. Also it looks pretty good and seems well put together for the money.

The clean, bluesy and "Brown" EVH sounds are excellent, the rest are pretty good too. Easy to use as a dial in Amp plus connecting to Boss Tone Studio (USB) opens up endless tweaking with 58 Boss effects plus more tools to get "that Tone" your after - so very adaptable. The clever design closely mimics a tube amp in sound and feel. The Boss designed 12" Speaker works really well and the whole amp is lightweight and compact. Boss have done an excellent job with this amp, an absolute bargain, hard to beat for the money.

Bought this to gig with because it is so light and loud enough for small gigs was fed up lugging my heavy tube amp around. It is also great sounding and has huge programming possibilities through Boss Tone Studio if that’s your thing, also has a built in acoustic amp that sounds really good too so even more options for live work. Can’t fault it for the price.

I bought this for my son who needed a small compact amp as he didn't have much storage room. He says the sound quality is excellent and was impressed by the range of features it has.
