  • VHS version is edited, DVD version is not

WARNING-Beware of the Coliseum Video/VHS version...it is an edited version of the 1989 WWF Royal Rumble(Clocking in at just over two hours), editing out not only several interviews but an entire match between King Haku and the legendary Harley Race for the title of "King of the WWF". The DVD version included in the Royal Rumble Anthology has the event in its original form and running time, with the exception of the dubbing over of the music at the beginning over the WWF logo, when Gene Okerlund originally said "The WWF, what the world is watching", it is re-edited with a new voice-over and music to say "The World Wrestling Federation, what the world is watching. Onto the event...the opening two out of three falls tag match is excellent between The Hart Foundation/Hacksaw Jim Duggan ...

  • Royal Rumble '89

The Royal Rumble has always been my favorite WWF/E pay-per-view event. The brainchild of WWF legend, Pat Patterson, the 30 man Royal Rumble match starts with two Superstars battling in the ring. After a random lottery drawing, another Superstar enters the match at 90 second intervals until all 30 men have entered. Elimination occurs only when a Superstar is thrown over the top rope. The last man standing in the ring, after the other 29 have been thrown out, is declared the winner. Where else can you see all your favorite Superstars in the same night, in the same pay-per-view, in the same match???!!! The '89 Rumble was the second of it's kind, but the first on pay-per-view. It is still a staple of WWE's yearly line-up. The '89 Rumble is special because of it's surprise eliminations ...

  • The Best Era

Doesn't get any better than classic WWF. Sure, Attitude era and the Monday Night Wars were fun, and the highwater mark for the sport, but 80s / early 90s WWF is peak.
