Back in the old days, you could put a roll of 35 mm film into a £50 or a £500 pound camera. A 500th of a second at f8 would pretty much give the same printed out result from both cameras. Now a days, you have to pay a lot of money to buy a sensor equivalent to the 35mm size. To buy a budget full frame camera you are buying something that has lots of features taken away from what you as an experienced photographer may consider important. I bought a little used canon eos 5d mk ii second hand. This has reinvigorated my enthusiasm and joy of photography. Brings back the memories of the old days back. 24mm lens is a 24mm lens, no multiplication of the focal length due to the cropped sensor! I've even got my old filters out. The canon 5d mk ii was a great camera when it came out, not plastic, weather sealed with a pro spec. It still holds it own today. I would recommend to anyone, if you are put off due to the price of the new full frame cameras, buy a good second hand one. The canon mk ii.... Bring back the fun! ;-) Read full review

it is without a doubt one of the bast cameras on the market. this is the second one as before you got to be careful what your buying, It is also good to ask about the sensor and main board. The 5D MK II has had its floor. But for image quality, if you get a good one like this is outstanding sharpness throughout, with zooming in fully, If the image is taken right, It will hold detail. The only drawback, It is clunky and noisy. Even when the mirror ock is up. The live view could have been in the same place as the 7D where your right-hand thumb rests.

Image quality is superb. Video quality is also very good. There is a huge range of functions available but it is also relatively easy to use. Down side is that it is quite heavy and not really a camera for the casual snapper. Build quality is excellent.

I wanted the best full frame Canon DSLR within my price range. The 1Ds were over budget but since the 5d Mk III has only just been released, lots of 2nd hand Mk II's became available within my price range. I purchased a 2nd hand Mk II with 7000 actuations and the camera is still in great condition. I use it with a 70-200mm 2.8 USM II, 24-104mm 4.0 and a 50mm 1.4 lenses and the results are great. It feels very solid, well constructed and feels nice and weighty but not overly heavy in hand. The camera feels like a pro body, it is feature rich and it will help me to take my photography to the next level. I'd buy a 2nd back up body just as soon as my funds permit!
Im new to full frame dslr have not had this camera very long (month) its fairly easy to use , am still learning settings but images I've got so far are excellent am well pleased. the only down side is that with my 1-400 lens attached it is rather heavy to carry around all day

excellent condition and although I have had not much time to delve into everything this camera can do the pictures I have managed look crisp, sharp and clear. Gret camera even though it is over 9 years old. Does everything I need it to do including excellent videos.

Extremely pleased with this full frame camera. Semi pro camera at an amateur price. A joy to handle once the learning is done. Great quality images. Nothing not to like. Canon quality throughout.

This was a ground breaking camera in its day, and even though its day was 12 years ago, it is still amazing value at the price I paid. Takes EF lenses, for which there is a huge second hand market which keeps the prices down.

Upgrading from the Canon 50D, and wanted a full frame camera if I could afford it. I have been reading reviews which have only criticised the price so when I saw this for sale refurbished I decided to take the plunge. I do not regret the decision at all. It has a really nice solid feel to it and the system is similar enough to my previous Canon to mean that I can find my way around most of the usual features. I haven't explored all the features yet, but the photgraphs have been excellent and I'm looking forward to using it with my studio lights for some portraiture soon.
