He-man still has the Power
I grew up with the Filmation He-man cartoon series. It was good at the time for a kid but this series is very well done. The stories are more complex and engaging. The animation quality is top notch compared to the Filmation series. This series also upholds and expands the MOTU 40 year old mythology. Some episodes are written by the original series writers. Outstanding, really. I saw the old Filmation shows when I was a kid and caught a few random episodes of the 2002 reboot series but never really paid a lot of attention to them. Then as I retrieved a bunch of my stuff from storage I found the Castle Grayskull from that era and sought out a few of the toys... which ten reminded me of the cartoon. I sought out this collection, and to my delight it was available cheaply and in it's entirety. The quality was excellent, the packaging was somewhat cheap, but overall it gave me exactly what I wanted- the chance to watch this show and enjoy it at my liesure, and share it with my friends so that they too could learn to enjoy yet another chunk of little-known but classic geekdom. A great buy for the completist, a nice cartoon to share with the ... Outstanding, really. In recent years we have seen a lot of remakes of popular 80s shows. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is one of the best. I'll be honest I was not a fan of the original cartoon when I was a kid. The toys were great but the cartoon seemed to treat kids well like "kids" and was oversimplified. In this updated version they have taken some time to develop backstories for the characters to give them a little more depth but have retained that fun element that kids love. In addition the animation is excellent. If you were a fan of the original I believe you will Love this series. the animation and story are great. great action and a better story line than the original. also tells about the history of the characters. great for any he-man fan and animation kook. i've watched it 3 weeks straight.

I am a fan of these types of shows and I can honestly say that while the 1980's He-Man cartoon was kind of cheesy,this show does more in depth coverage of each characters back stories and tells a cohesive and we'll developed story overall.
