Bored and sitting near a window they made a bet. The bet was to see which of two raindrops would reach the bottom first. They each wagered £5. To pay his debt, the loser went to the bank and withdrew 4,800 of these farthings. These coins carried the lowest value at the time, a mere 1/4 of a penny. Over a century later, these unused coins were found still wrapped in tissue paper from the bank.
