  • Athlon XP3000+

Bought as an upgrade to my XP2400+ CPU. If your motherboard supports the 2400 then this CPU is a good upgrade and will make your system probably 25% faster. It raised my FSB from 266Mhz to 333Mhz - has 512Kb of 2nd level cache , compared to the 256Kb of the 2400. And it's a faster chip at 2.16Ghz. My memory at 333Mhz now runs at the same speed as the FSB and processor (2 X 166Mhz = 332Mhz). A very happy system indeed. I used the HP/Compaq 3.21 Bios update for my A7N8X-LA Explorer2 motherboard with no issues. If you have a 400Mhz board like the A7N8X -deluxe , then the PC3200+ CPU would suit you , with some DDR400 memory , but the price of that chip would be much higher indeed. In summary the 3000+ was a very cheap way to revamp my system and for £13 I am most pleased. I bought an Nvidia ...

  • A Good Reliable Processor

The Athlon xp 3000 it a good speed processor that can be bought at a rather moddest price, The 400mhz fsb is nothing now days compared to the 1600+mhz ddr3 super motherboards but this processor will run pretty much anything you throw at it, it is quite capable of 1080i Digh definition film playback, it can run modern games such as half life 2 and quake 4 the overclockability on these chips is not to bad you can gain a couple hundred extra mhz the only problem with these cpu's is they they have to be adequatly cooled otherwise they will toat them selves pair one of these up with a good motherboard and chipset some decent ram and a good spec graphics card and hard drive and your got your self a low cost gaming rig

  • AMD Athlon XP 3000+

Today AMD seeme to have lost the plot somewhat and everyone seems to have gone over the to darkside (why do folk consider Intel the dark side!!!), yes I have too joined the Dual core band. But I still use AthlonXP systems and presently have a couple in use - A shuttel look alike and a MATX Asus system, both use AthlonXP 3000+ and I once used the daddy of all Athlons the 3200+ which like and earlier poster remarkedstill goes for silly money. I can say that in general use there is no real difference between 3000+ and the 3200+. Although I have not done a test on speed during beteween the two, I'm pretty sure the the 3200+ has the edage over the 3000+. Still its a good chip that holds it own in todays world - its fine if you want a PC that is used for ordinay things - the only downer will ...

  • Last upgrade for ancient AMD K7 system

Bought this processor to squeeze out the last bit of performance from an ancient AMD K7 system. Even though the processor has passed its golden time and the performance is nothing compared to even modern low end processors, it's still quite a boost from an even older AMD Athlon XP 2000+ processor. Everything just run smoother particularly WinTV v7. No problem for lightweight 3D gaming such as 9Dragons, when coupled with a decent graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 4670 AGP). HD Flash videos on YouTube still struggle slightly (Flash is resource hungry) but viewing HD videos locally is no problem at all. Get this if you are to beef up your ancient AMD K7 system for the very last time, otherwise go for a CPU and motherboard bundle deal instead.
