Russell Mulcahy's original saga of immortal Scotsman Connor Macleod, one of a race of immortals who can only be killed when beheaded with a sword. After living in peace for four centuries, he is challenged by an old enemy named Kurgan.During a fierce sword battle in the 1500s, Connor MacLeod, a simple Scotsman known as a poor fighter, is mortally wounded -- but he does not die. MacLeod learns from the mysterious Ramirez that he is of a race of immortals. These rare knights never age and never reproduce, they can only meet death by the blade of another of their kind. Leaping back and forth through the centuries, MacLeod once again meets the evil Kurgan who nearly killed him 500 years ago.

Great addition to any blue ray collection. Very different than vhs like all classics.

If you want to see the movie very well lot with enhanced sound and a changed movie this is it. This is even different than the directors cut, and different than the very first original release. I often watch both to compare, and this one too. For example the garage scene is very lit up, and edited differently. The castle scene with connery vs brown is also lit up, and the wrestling scene slightly different. The movie has different music scores and is edited differently at parts too. This includes the cut ww2 scene. I have yet to compare this to the directors cut and original. One version he has a flashback to scotland because of the wrestling, another not. One shows him sensing another immortal in the garage, the other not and he just gets up and leaves.

Just an Average Entertainment Overdone with Nothing Memorable

This is not quite the kind of film I expected. The screenplay is just nonsensical despite the topflight characters in the film. It was rather agonizing to endure watching the whole film. Some people might find it interesting, but I found practically nothing inspiring or entertaining.

  • Must have in your collection!

Picked up a 5 dollar DVD copy of this movie a couple of months ago but I felt like I was watching it through a black square box because it was one of the very first DVD releases from the late nineties. I'm not really a purist when it comes to dvd vs blu-ray (sometimes I like to watch VHS when I'm feeling nostalgic!) but it wasn't doing this classic any justice so it was time to upgrade. I highly recommend purchasing from this seller. Thank you so much!

  • I love this movie!!

If you like 'sword and sorcery' or 'scifi' types of movies, you'll really like this movie! The film quality is not all that great, but it's a 30 year old movie.
