Its appearance is black - only slight niggle is that is has constantly flashing green LEDs (even whe n PC is switched off!) which you can't disable and can be a distraction if you have a clear sided desktop case like me. I'm not sure the NIC is capable of 2.5 Gb speeds but it seems to handle up to 1 Gb transfers with ease. Overall impressed.
