    Karajan in the Digital Era

    As a classical CD collector, I felt compelled to buy the Karajan boxes because of Deutsche Grammophon's reputation as well as Karajan's. After enjoying the 1960's and 1970's sets, I asked myself whether I needed to buy this set. Yes, I did, because this is the DDD digital era of Karajan, and now you and I can compare the AAD and ADD sound with DDD sound. Every decade has its attributes, and Karajan 1980's reveals a slightly different sound than the previous releases. So if you are a classical buff, buy this beautiful set, and enjoy the embarrassment of riches within. Full digital recordings do sound slightly different, and here is your chance to judge for yourself.
