Notes
Digitally remastered edition. Never Say Die! Is the eighth studio album by English rock band Black Sabbath, released in September 1978. It was the final Black Sabbath studio album until 2013's 13 to feature vocalist Ozzy Osbourne prior to his departure from the band in 1979, and the last full studio album to feature the band's original lineup. Black Sabbath was formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist and main songwriter Tony Iommi, bassist and main lyricist Geezer Butler, singer Ozzy Osbourne, and drummer Bill Ward. Black Sabbath is often cited as pioneers of heavy metal music. The band helped define the genre with a clutch of groundbreaking albums in the ‘70s. They have sold over 70 million records worldwide. Black Sabbath were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.

Much better than its undeserved reputation

This re-release of the 1978 album sounds fantastic. The record has an undeserved reputation as a poor effort by the 'Sabs. It is a departure from some of their heyday sound - it's not so much a heavy metal record as it is a 1970s hard rock album - hints of Thin Lizzy, what was to come in Van Halen and Ozzy's early solo records, maybe a little prog (Don Airey's presence on keys), and a lot of blues. I agree with many critiics, the first half of the album is stronger, but don't write off the second - the only real strange moment is the instrumental breakout, which admittedly, does not make a lick of sense if separated on its own, and only fits with the albumn closer "Swingin' the Chain" and earlier songs such as Junior's Eyes and Johnny Blades. Give it a listen.

    • The last of the original lineup...

It is the last album of the original 4 who established Black Sabbath as a band- it is a bit obscure- But I am a die hard fan of the original Black Sabbath 4-some.
