Synopsis
A spectacular, Pultizer Prize-winning novel by a master of comedy, beloved by readers and critics alike. The place is the French Quarter, the characters, denizens of New Orleans's lower depths., Ignatius J. Reilly of New Orleans, --selfish, domineering, deluded, tragic and larger than life-- is a noble crusader against a world of dunces. He is a modern-day Quixote beset by giants of the modern age. In magnificent revolt against the twentieth century, Ignatius propels his monstrous bulk among the flesh posts of the fallen city, documenting life on his Big Chief tablets as he goes, until his maroon-haired mother decrees that Ignatius must work.

The description was perfectly accurate. The book looks great, is in very good condition and all the small blemishes present were mentioned. Packaging was great and received in a timely manner. A trustworthy transaction, I would buy from this seller again. As to the book and content. I love Dragonlance and the annotated notes did not disappoint, gave several background points and little known facts. I wish I bought it when it came out, but worth the price to have it now.

Unfortunately the item was packaged very poorly (a single piece of cardboard taped the book) and was damaged in transit. This was especially egregious since the seller charged a rather high flat rate of $15 for USPS Media Mail. The seller did reply to my feedback, but offered no apology or recompense - only that they "took my comments as good feedback". I would expect a signed, numbered book to be packaged with much better care. Would not recommend this seller to collectors.

  • One great ride…

What a terrible shame that Toole took his life. What an homage to him that his mother was finally able to find a publisher that would back this extraordinary Pulitzer winning craziness. It’s a great, great ride; can’t thank you enough, Mr. Toole.

  • Unusual

I have so much to say about this book, for one thing it was written by my husbands cousin, loosely based on his family. John Kennedy Toole was my mother in laws brothers son, her maiden name was Toole. We were so thrilled when he won the Pulitzer, however he wasn’t there to see his work become such a success. His mother Thelma was going to have it published no matter what it took, and of course she did. If it wasn’t for her tenacity it would be forgotten in an attic. I have read a letter from her to my mother in law saying that John got his talent from her and only her. I could go on and on.

  • A Classic

I went to college in New Orleans ( Tulane ) 1957-1961. I wondered what the local New Orleans was like. This classic and national prize winner gives you a very funny picture!
