This is an added safety feature implemented by the manufacturer. The original design allowed a one-touch close feature for the reset button; however, this presented safety issues. A pet or small child could get trapped between the footrest and the furniture if the user had vacated the area while the recliner was still closing. This press-and-hold reset button is a very good safety feature, and all current models of MLZB019 are now equipped with it.

I ended up ordering the correct size cable & I’m currently awaiting its delivery. I just kept the previously purchased incorrect size cable as it was not economical to return it. Would buy from again
